Managing Time Effectively as an IT Professional

05.06.09 - As co-owner of JBR Graphics, Inc., a website design, development and hosting company in northern Michigan, many times it is very overwhelming to answer phones, get new projects completed timely and to flat out manage our time effectively. We are constantly pulled in different directions which hampers our ability to get things done on a consistent time schedule.

Busy, Busy, Days
We have over 250 clients and continuous inquiries for new service. Some days are so hectic, by the end of the day I can say I've returned calls, put out fires but haven't actually completed a project I set out to complete.

Contacting the Right Person for Help
Well aware of my lack of time management skills, I set out to right the ship and contacted several of our clients for advice yesterday. One client in particular, Vicki Voisin (aka The Paralegal Mentor) helps paralegals with the very issues I am having - lack of an action plan and needing help with managing time effectively. Vicki was more than happy to help a non-paralegal and had some great suggestions for me, some of which I have put into use already.

Putting The Paralegal Mentor's Suggestions into Action
I'm going to be blogging about Vicki's various suggestions, how they are helping our business succeed and ask that you also post your various ideas and tips. Vicki's suggestions have helped so many paralegals that I have a sneaking suspicion they will help this IT professional as well.
